ART AND INNOVATION
PROJECT: STREAMATERIA is a multi disciplinary project that started as a radical vision for fast fashion by Guringo Design Studio in 2014. It has since then evolved into several different innovation projects in such a variety of disciplines as art, industrial innovation and law.
The clothes are now wearable and was shown at Arlanda airport the fall of 2016.
The overall goal is to create a digital service offering bespoke, compostable clothing with short life span that – in combination with pop-up units – can be consumed without environmental guilt.
Working in a multidisciplinary manner together with Holmen, Ibeyostudio, Innventia, Ragn-Sells, Högskolan i Borås, the goal is within reach.
A limited edition of the service will be launched in 2018. If you want the chance to experience it first hand, sign up at the Streamateria website!
The material is constructed with a 3D printed mesh of compostable, flexible filament and then covered with a tissue och foamed cellulose.
The manufacturing methods have been developed by the Guringo Design Studio in our laboratory.
The Streamateria infrastructure aims to set the standards for the whole production chain, from growing the resources, via designing and printing to destruction and closing the loop.
We are currently looking for partners to start the automatization phase.
The digital garments are fitted on customized avatars in virtual fitting rooms and, through an automated process they assume physical form. By creating garments that are designed to die from the beginning, we can create a virtual stream of design that not only enables unique, enhanced user experiences, but also a circular flow s of raw material.
